Annual Wellness Exams

Yearly wellness visits play a crucial role in helping you stay healthy! Your provider will review your health status and together will develop a plan to help you stay healthy. Though some points will vary depending on your age, most annual wellness exams will cover the following factors regardless of age:

  • A check of any chronic conditions
  • A check of the abdomen, thyroid glands, and lymph nodes for abnormalities
  • A look at your ears
  • Blood pressure
  • Eyesight evaluation
  • General skin check to identify suspicious moles or skin lesions
  • Heart and lung check
  • Height
  • Weight

Reasons to Schedule an Appointment

Everyone knows they should seek medical help if they experience severe symptoms or medical conditions. But many people forego medical care for symptoms that are actually good reasons to visit a doctor. If you experience any of the following, it’s a good idea to check in with your doc:

  • Your common cold suddenly becomes much worse
  • You experience a persistent, high fever
  • Sudden, unexplained weight loss
  • Shortness of breath
  • Severe chest, abdominal, or pelvic pain
  • Change in bowel or urination patterns
  • Bright flashes of light that interrupt vision
  • Confusion or changes in mood
  • If you suspect that you could have a concussion
  • If you develop unexpected symptoms after a medical procedure or beginning a new medication

The above list is not all-inclusive. A good rule of thumb is if something feels strange or seems unusual for you, it’s best to be safe than sorry and have it checked.
